There are so many great restaurants on Pensacola Beach that most visitors cannot try them all during an average vacation. So if you’re a foodie, we recommend you plan your visit in late September to sample our finest local cuisine at Taste of the Beach, a fall food festival presented by the Pensacola Beach Chamber.
Dining on the beach is one of life’s greatest pleasures, and crisp blue skies and cooler temperatures make autumn an optimum time of the year to feast outdoors on the Gulf Coast. Taste of the Beach is the perfect excuse both to sample our island cuisine and celebrate the change of season.
Dozens of local chefs participate, offering up signature dishes and creative creations. Wander through tent after tent sampling fresh Gulf seafood and other Southern favorites. Beer sampling tents feature local brews to wash down the good eats.
Friday night is a VIP event, with tickets running $65 a person for a cooking demonstration and meet-and-greet with a visiting national celebrity chef. Entrance to Saturday’s day-long festival is free, and most dishes are priced at $5 or less. Enjoy live entertainment from local bands and kid-friendly activities such as surfing lessons, crab racing and stargazing once the sun goes down. It’s a full day of fun for the whole family.
You can also watch local stars compete in the Chef’s Challenge. Chef Dan Dunn of the Hilton’s own H20 Cajun Asian Grill attends the festival every year. As the only regional celebrity chef who calls Pensacola Beach his home, Dunn is proud to be part of a vibrant coastal culinary scene.
“I enjoy this event more than most,” he says. “I appreciate how it brings our community together at the end of the tourist season. I look forward to seeing friends, some of which I’ve known for two decades.”
Cheer on Chef Dan, and get a taste of the good life at Taste of the Beach.
